Kurt Baebi Keyboarder, Composer, Producer
was born on Oct. 25, 1943, in Lucerne Switzerland. At the Lucerne Jazz School he studied piano, notation and composition. In 1973 he formed the legendary band Shivananda. Until the mid-eighties, this band made a major impact on the European Fusion-Jazz scene: Many extended tours, five albums and numerous international festival- and TV-appearances contributed to the band’s unique reputation. Among the studio-scene Kurt Baebi became a highly sought after keyboard player, sound designer and keyboard programmer. For Shivananda’s third album «COMEBACK», he filled the roles as producer, engineer, bandleader, composer and musician. From 2003 until 2015, Kurt Baebi produced ten solo Albums as composer, arranger and musician under his label CSST Productions. Kurt Baebi’s sensitive electronic music takes the audience to spherical dimensions – sound designs that vividly reflect the composer’s world spanning impressions and experiences. His ten solo albums feature very straight forward song structures. They not only consist of jazzy compositions but are also influenced by Far-Eastern pop and African sound elements. Baebi is a passionate sound engineer who primarily uses electronic instruments to constantly expand his sound spectrum with the latest available technologies. He orchestrates and produces his collages of sounds with a strong aim for perfection.
