The group SHIVANANDA
was founded 1973 by Kurt Baebi, one of the most succsessful Live-Bands of the time. SHIVANANDA celebrated the Jazzrock, Electric Fusion Jazz, the upcoming music style of the decade developing towards a soon zenith. Numerous tours all over Europe as well as performances at international festivals and Radio/TV broadcasts testified together with the five recorded albums on the fabulous homoge-neity of the sound colours, founding the Bands unique reputation. 1973 The origin Founded by Kurt Baebi, Shivananda obtained the 1st place at the National Jazzfestival in Augst, Switzerland, followed by an appearance at the Zürich Jazz Festival with TV live transmission. 1974 The rise of the band The sax player Roberto Biagini is completing the band, national and international live appearances with bass player Bruno Brandenberger and various drummers, among them Felix Haug, Herbie Hart-mann, Figi Honegger and Allen Blairman. 1975 The lucky strike The most sought-after swiss rhythm-section , the Keiser-Twins, join Shivananda, followed by percussionist and guitar player Carlo Milan, first extended European tours... 1976 The highlights continue Jazz Festival Montreux, live broadcast at ORTF in Paris, Südwestfunk Baden (Germany) discovers the band .... 1977 The first LP The first album “Cross Now” is produced and released by Gnome Records and distributed in Germany, France, Sweden, Poland and Denmark. The Swiss television produces a documentary report on Shivananda, followed by the Belgian Television .... 1978 The Sextet Chico Hablas, guitars, is now integrated in the group, live performances in Paris representing Switzerland through Pro Helvetia, appearing at various National Festivals as well as at the Festival of San Sebastian, Spain, chosen as representant of the Swiss Radio Corporation SRG at the Middelheim Festival (Antwerp, Belgium) ... |
1979 “Headlines”
Production and release of the LP “Headlines” on Gnome Records, Festival Le Castellet FR, with more than 80'000 spectators... We invited Larry Schneider as a guest musician to the with more than studio. At that time he was on tour with Horace Silver. Larry Schneider Soprano & Tenor Sax (thanks for the fantastic cooperation; we're still waiting for the picture! 1983 “Comeback” Kurt Baebi establishes his own label CSST Musicproductions.
